John Edward Ables

John Edward Ables, age 86 of Hampton died Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Dallas County Medical Center in Fordyce. He was born June 4, 1937 in Calhoun County, Arkansas. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Hampton, a lifelong building contractor, and was elected sheriff of Calhoun County in 1989 serving 14 years. John Edward loved his family, church and community.

John Edward Ables, age 86 of Hampton died Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Dallas County Medical Center in Fordyce. He was born June 4, 1937 in Calhoun County, Arkansas. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Hampton, a lifelong building contractor, and was elected sheriff of Calhoun County in 1989 serving 14 years. John Edward loved his family, church and community.

John Edward is preceded in death by his parents, Louie Vernon Ables and Mildred Arnett Rinehart Ables; mother of his children, Myrtis Sue Ables; one son, Johnny Dale Ables; one brother, Earl Ables; and two sisters, Charlotte Dorey and Jeanette Williams. He is survived by three sons, Randy (Angie) Ables of Hampton, Ronnie (Becky) Ables of Hampton, Tim (Anita) Ables of Kilgore, TX; two brothers, Murl Ables of Hampton, Jerry Dale Ables of Camden; one sister, Shirley Cook of Camden; grandchildren, Cody (Kristina) Ables of Hampton, Wes (Lindsey) Ables of El Dorado, Jessica (Brandon) Alanis of Vilonia, Linley (David) Riedmueller of Conway, Thomas (Teal) Ivy of Kilgore, TX, Jonathan Ivy of Kilgore, TX, Cheslie Ables of Kilgore, TX, Matthew (Whitney) Holloway of Hampton, Adam (Amber) Jones of Bearden, Jim Jones of Bella Vista; great grandchildren, Della Ables, Cy Ables, Gemma Ables, Paxton Strong, Paysen Ables, Lily Kate Ables, Ryker Ables, Audrie Paz, Isaac Paz, Layton Ivy, Palmer Ivy, Weston Jones, Bailee Jones, Luca Riedmueller, Lillian Riedmueller, Harper Holloway, Hollis Holloway, Haylen Holloway, Wilson Holloway, and Dallas Alanis.

Visitation will be Thursday 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at First Assembly of God Church in Hampton. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday at First Assembly of God Church in Hampton with Rev. Jerry Dale Ables and Rev. Rickey Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Moore’s Chapel Cemetery in Hampton. Arrangements by Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce.
