South Arkansas Sun's very own columnist, Jeri Shire keeps her hot streak alive for the seventh year! Jeri was awarded first place for Best Humorous Column of 2024 by the Arkansas Press Association. Jeri states, 'I’ve won awards every year since Larry took over the paper — except last year when I missed the entry deadline!'
When asked how long she had been writing, Jeri explains how she has been writing since first grade. 'I still have a little tablet with some stories from first grade.' Shire shares that she will write a novel someday.
Jeri has had experience working as a feature writer for the Vinita Daily Journal in Oklahoma and the Hereford Brand in Texas. Eventually working her way up to reporter, farm editor, and finally managing editor.
