Social Media Doesn't Make Us Social

Social media soared during the years we were banned from in-person stuff and the rest of this alloted space could be used for the many platforms social media includes. Social media is a way to communicate with others without having to talk to them or see them. Social media offers connection with millions around the world. Age, gender, race and all the other potentially prejudicial barriers one might encounter in person are eliminated through social media. A person can be or portray themselves to be on social media what they're not in person. And that could be a problem.

With the advent of AI, we might just encounter on social media an entity that doesn't even exist.

Do we want the government to regulate social media? Do we want the companies screen who we connect with or what we say?

Maybe it's time to get back to in person conversation.
