The wildfire which started Monday triggered volunteer departments to action Calhoun County to protect homes and property in the area north of county road 219. The Arkansas Forestry Commission had eight crews out initially. They also had aircrews monitoring the spread. Air tankers were also dispatched for fire suppression as it approached area bunkers containing explosives.
As it continued through the night, several bulldozers established breaks to contain the fire which had spread to over 1,200 acres. By Tuesday morning the crews had it 90% contained and four crews working the fire.
Tuesday evening the weather helped with getting the fire under control and the forestry commission was able to secure it with fire breaks and it is 100% contained.
The area consumed by the wildfire included a total of 1,794 acres.
