We regretfully announce the passing of Verta Mae “Vert” Buzbee, 87, of Hampton, Arkansas. Vert passed away on January 6, 2023 of natural causes. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, James V. Wooten Sr.

Vert was born to Lester Sylvester and Edna Ables Wooten on June 7, 1935 in Calhoun County, Arkansas. A generous and vibrant personality from the beginning, Vert was a beautiful young woman. Vert graduated from Hampton High School and soon thereafter began working in the local community where she met her future husband, Edward Troy “ET” Buzbee.

Vert and ET spent their days fishing, gardening, at their camp on the river and traveling when time allowed. They were deeply devoted to each other as well as family and friends.

Vert retired after working many years in the front office at Calion Lumber Company but continued to help manage their successful plumbing and electric company. She enjoyed reading, gardening and spending time with her husband, ET. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Vert. She loved a quiet evening at home watching TV with her husband. She had an uncanny ability to find happiness in her daily activities. Her humble attitude was contagious to others she met. She loved the Lord and was a member of First Baptist Church in Hampton, AR for many years.

Vert is survived by her husband of 67 years, ET Buzbee and her sister, Mary Ann Smith (Hubert) of Maumelle and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
