Protecting Female Athletes

Fifty years ago, Title IX was enacted, and it revolutionized women’s sports. After decades of female athletes fighting for respect and equality in sports, Title IX prohibited discrimination in sports based on sex. Now, after all this time, the radical left’s agenda is putting Title IX and the integrity of women’s athletics in jeopardy.

Later this year, the Biden Administration plans to finalize regulations that could force schools to allow biological males to compete in women’s sports. The far left has decided to ignore the fundamental biological differences between men and women and instead is pushing their woke agenda at the expense of female athletes.

This should not be a partisan issue. Anyone who has taken a biology class knows that this is basic science. Genetics tells us that biological men will naturally have a physical advantage over some women. Allowing biological men to compete in women’s sports destroys the level playing field women fought so hard to get in the first place.

As a former college athlete, I cannot imagine how it feels for female athletes to compromise the integrity of the sport they love by being forced to compete against a biological man; it’s not fair.

This week, I joined my House Republican colleagues to PASS H.R. 734, the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act. I’m proud to be a cosponsor of this legislation that will protect the integrity and fairness of women’s athletics from the liberal left’s woke agenda.

The bill will strengthen Title IX, protect the progress made for female athletes in the past 50 years, and ensure a level playing field for female athletes. I’ve heard from many constituents in the 4th District who agree biological men should not be allowed to compete in women’s sports. Women and girls deserve the opportunity to succeed in the sport they love without worrying about being forced to compete against a biological man. I am proud to have played a role in this bill to protect that right and the integrity of women’s sports.
