Annual Report to the Public, School Board Meeting

Beginning the Board meeting, prayer was given by Elementary Student Tate Sanders and the Pledge of Allegiance led by Elementary Student Hensley Daniell (picture at right.) The board hired Jonathan Swecker and Bernard Moore and approved Christmas Bonus es for staff. The next meeting will be December 12 at 6:00 p.m.

Prior to the meeting Superintendent Matt Scarbrough gave the 2023-24 District Report to the Public. The annual public meeting is an opportunity for administrators and principals to share the district’s progress toward goals, the accreditation status of the schools, and proposals to correct deficiencies. Hampton Elementary and Hampton High School are fully accredited by the Arkansas Department of Education with no deficiencies.

The Hampton School District, in an effort to ensure that all members of the district and the community have a voice in planning and the success of the district, has worked hard to define the organizational structure and have goals to continue this work into the community in the coming months.

The future goals of the Hampton School District will be to extend the organizational structure to include parents and community members. In the spring semester the Hampton School District will begin the process of building, communicating with, and organizing a Parent Teacher Association. Association will be made up of parents, teachers, community members, and local business owners. This will serve to strengthen the relationship between the school and the community.

Current Academic Standing for the Hampton School District Hampton Elementary is currently graded at a D - The elementary school fell short on the grade of C by 1.13 points.

Hampton High School is currently graded at a D - The high school fell short on the grade of C by .69 points. The average ACT score for Hampton is currently - 17.2

Academic Goals for the Hampton School District The Hampton School District will set a high standard of excellence in all academic areas. The District will expect to meet these goals over a period of time and will work with all outside agencies who may add value to the academic success of the students. The District leadership understands that all goals will not be met at all times, but seeks to set an expectation of high achievement by administration, teachers, and students. 1. 2023-24 - Achieve a grade of C or better 2. 2024-25 - Maintain a C or better while moving the expectation to attaining a B grade 3. 2025-26 - Maintain a B or better while moving the expectation to attaining an A grade 4. 2026-27 - Maintain an A and be in the top ten percent of school districts in the state 5. 2027-28 - Maintain the high level of achievement set in previous years 6. 2023-24 - Raise ACT Composite Scores to an average of 18.5 7. 2024-25 - Raise ACT Composite Scores to an average of 20.0 8. 2025-26 - Raise ACT Composite Scores to an average of 21.5 9. 2026-27 - Raise ACT Composite Scores to an average of 22.0 10. 2027-28 - Maintain the high level of achievement set in previous years

Plan to Reach the Academic Goals of the School District 1. Hampton Schools will use High Quality Instructional Materials approved by the state 2. Hampton Schools will continuously train teachers in researched based and proven teaching methods 3. Hampton Schools will recruit and hire only qualified and high quality teachers 4. Hampton Schools will dedicate and ensure financial resources for student achievement 5. Hampton Schools will evaluate all teachers, academic methods, and progress on a continual basis 6. Hampton Schools will provide its students with ACT prep classes, and opportunities to take the ACT on more than one occasion 7. Hampton Schools will track all student growth and progress to ensure students are getting all academic needs met 8. Hampton Schools will continue to have a graduation rate of more than 95 percent and strive to ensure that all students graduate

Academic Areas under Current Review and Planning 1. Interventions and actions for increasing proficiency in math and literacy. a. This is being currently reviewed by the district in cooperation with our educational co-op and the Department of Education in monthly meetings. We have done an extensive review of the new standards and are currently working to adjust our instruction to meet these new standards.

2. District wide focus on Response to Intervention for grades K-12. a. RTI aims to identify kids who are struggling in school. It uses targeted teaching to help them catch up. An important part of RTI is measuring progress and providing more support to kids who need it. The district is currently employing new methods of assessment for learning gaps at the high school level. The RTI methods are being reviewed and modified to meet the needs of the students.

Child Nutrition

No changes have been made to child nutrition in the current year. The district is seeking to write a request for proposal (RFP) from the Arkansas Department of Child Nutrition Services. This RFP will give the district the ability to join a food purchasing cooperative. Joining the cooperative is expected to have the following effects: 1. Increase the quality of food product 2. Give the district access to a certified cafeteria facilities expert 3. Cut food cost by as much as 50% 4. Give the district access to a Certified Nutritionist 5. Give the district access to a trained and certified chef 6. Improve the students experience in the cafeteria 7. Increase the number of students and teachers eating in the school facility

K-32; 1st-38; 2nd-37; 3rd-35; 4th-28; 5th-55; 6th-27; 7th-34; 8th-41; 9th-47; 10th-48; 11th-48; 12th-39 Total - 509

Plan To Increase Enrollment

1. Hampton Schools is currently seeking to add another preschool classroom.

2. Hampton Schools is currently researching alternative school calendars which may entice students to attend the district.

3. The increase in student achievement is also expected to add to student enrollment.

4. The Superintendent will work with city and county planning organizations on any and all measures to bring industry or housing to the area.
