Slaves

Slaves–the first thought that comes to mind is the southern black cotton pickin’ man forced into submission by the cruel white whipping masters. The mini series Roots comes to mind, if old enough to remember. Today, they are only stories told by second and third generation people. We should never forget the war and struggles fought to eliminate that kind of slavery. Slavery as that was not the first, nor will the last. Slavery is not limited to the south or to any race. Slavery has been around since biblical times, along with a bunch of other evil things this world has to offer. Some form of slavery still exist today. From the obvious (or hidden in plain sight) human trafficking to the debt of credit cards, being a slave is not so extinct as we would hope. The thousands of people crossing the border illegally are often subject to amounts of money that can only be paid back by some sort of servitude. Just as we don’t want to admit to the abuses of the past, the current situation of some is something we would like to ignore. Those subject to the servitude may not admit as it is partially self-inflected. Self inflicted servitude is one of the most common types of slavery. The illegals crossing the border want to leave from where they came so badly they will subject themselves to a life of servitude.

The thousands of people crossing the border illegally are often subject to amounts of money that can only be paid back by some sort of servitude. Just as we don't want to admit to the abuses of the past, the current situation of some is something we would like to ignore. Those subject to the servitude may not admit as it is partially self-inflected. Self inflicted servitude is one of the most common types of slavery. The illegals crossing the border want to leave from where they came so badly they will subject themselves to a life of servitude.

Many of us in-debt ourselves to others because of something we want and are impatient to wait or work for it. Credit card companies are happy to oblige. Once the process is started it is seemingly impossible to free ourselves. The banks have given us opportunity to forever pay interest on homes, cars and other property, again a debt to be paid. Slavery is not just physical. Financial debt owed means we are obligated by a promise (we made) to pay, even when we can't. No one wants to admit it, but if you are one of the ones that has no debt then you are truly a free person, not obligated to pay others a fee for having things. However, as free as a no-debt, outright owner of property can be there is another greedy slavemaster we have subjected ourselves under. The government is always wanting more of what we freedom loving people have. They are good at taking it. They, like the old masters of the past, instill fear if we don't submit and pay up. And, if you haven't heard, they (the IRS) has double their agents in order to assure compliance. We all need the government and are willing to contribute to its ability to provide the services as defined by the people. The services should be balanced with the amount of that agreed to be taken to provide the services. We the people have been duped by some thinking the government should be providing things of ridiculous nature. We have been wrangled into providing to others not contributing to the its existence. It is simply outrageous some of the things our so-called government spends its (our) money on! Those in the government leadership have enslaved our country into a debt that will be paid by our children's grandchildren. We are selling our debt to our enemies and increasing it with those who will never repay. The blame is not on one party or the other. It is on the people. Slavery (the kind we initially think of) existed as long as people tolerated it and said nothing. The increasing debt will continue as long as we the people tolerate it and do nothing. There is a way to freedom. There is a way to become debt free. It is not an easy path. It requires sacrifice. It requires work. It requires a plan to work. We must understand the reality that nothing is free. If we want to provide defense of our country, we must pay our portion for defense. If we want to give away free cell phones to those illegally crossing our borders, we will pay our portion. If we want to feed the poor and homeless, we must pay our portion to do so. I'm just not sure our priorities we spend our money on is worth the en-slavery it costs.
