After an hour long discussion, the Hampton City Council approved a six percent cost-of-living raise for all city employees.

During the discussion about the raise, the school resource officer (SRO) pay was brought up. Some in the meeting said the school resource officer does not do anything for the city and don't think the city should have to pay. One of the alderman said the superintendent questioned why other groups were paying for the officer when he works at the school. The comments were made about the school resource officer position.

The Hampton Police Chief mentioned the police department was going to try and have 24-hour coverage for five days a week.

The city council members paid the bills and adjourned.
