99 of Hampton, died Saturday January 6, 2024 at St. John’s Place in Fordyce. Born May 17, 1924 in Woodberry, she was a daughter of the late William and Matty Strickland.
She was retired from General Dynamics after twenty years of service. She was also the oldest member of Hampton First Baptist Church. She loved fishing, playing games, mainly dominoes and SkipBo, crocheting and cooking for her family.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Oliver; a sister, Ethel Strickland Simpson; six brothers, Thomas Strickland, Clarence Strickland, Hal Strickland, Whitty Strickland, Hamp Strickland, and Berry Strickland, Jr.; four grandchildren, Kenny Nowlin, Mike Nowlin, Lynn Nowlin Bryant and Monica Oliver; and a daughter-inlaw, Judy Oliver.
She is survived by two sons, Bobby Oliver (Josie) and Phillip Oliver of Hampton; four grandchildren, Blake Bryant (Cassandra), Brice Bryant, Mike Oliver, Jo Ella Reynolds (Scott); special nephew, Mike Strickland; six great-grandchildren and numerous great greatgrandchildren.
Pallbearers are Mike Strickland, Mark Reynolds, Jaxon Strickland, El i Chandler, Blake Bryant, and Mike Hooks. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Oliver and Scott Reynolds.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Hampton First Baptist Church. Funeral services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hampton First Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Nutt officiating. Burial will follow at Means Cemetery.
