Calhoun County 4-Hers Win Junior Bass Tournament
Calhoun County 4-Hers Win Junior Bass Tournament

Post frontal windy conditions did not stop junior 4-H members Jayden Rushing and Cy Ables from catching fish at the 3rd stop of the Arkansas Youth Bass Nation Southern Region event on Lake Greeson this past weekend. Jayden and Cy started the morning out slow but found themselves within the 5-bass limit close to weigh-in time. “They fought hard and never gave up. Once we figured the bite out, it was just a matter of time before they found that 5th bass to fill out a tournament limit,” stated Coach and CEA-Staff Chair Jaret Rushing.

Extension Office Hosts 4-H After-School
Extension Office Hosts 4-H After-School

The local extension office has encouraged weekly 4-H sign up activities in the administration building. In February, we baked sugar cookies while introducing 4-H. The following week, we made banners explaining the 4-H emblem. The 4-H emblem is a fourleaf clover with an ’H’ on each leaf. The letters in the emblem stand for Head, Heart, Hands, and Health. This week, our young people made a greenhouse, and they plan to record their findings in their observation journal. Our final activity for February will be outdoor themed.

Where to Start
Where to Start

This has been a busy couple of weeks, for the government. China balloons shot down, train derailment with toxins we can’t even know about, major earthquakes in our enemy’s back yard killing thousands, the president going to a war zone, and all this during investigations that will make your head spin. Yes, there are investigations going on of our FBI (not by but of), classified document everywhere, Biden’s son’s laptop, Biden’s brother, manipulation of social media to sway elections just to name a few. Is it time to clean house, spring clean the corruption we only see in third world countries? And, who would do the cleaning up? Can we know who to trust? Is it possible to know the truth, the facts and only the facts? Will we ever really know who won the election or if it was fairly ran without media bias? There are so many questions and too many circle back diversions our head continues to spin faster than the words out of their mouths. There is a divide in our nation. It has always been and always will be division. There are conservatives and liberals. There are democrats and republicans. There are those who want more (government) control over our lives and those who prefer government not meddle in our life. There are those who want to even control the climate, over which the earth and sun already have a relationship that would be impossible to disrupt or change. Control, deception, power, and fear is not the most appealing attribute of any leader but it looks as if that is what we have. We can’t prove it and most don’t care if we do. Our nation needs a wake up call, not a woke call. We need clarity and decisiveness. We need hope and a vision. We need a revival–oh yeah, it’s beginning in a little town in Kentucky...

We love the state of Arkansas.
We love the state of Arkansas.

It’s full of dichotomous beauty. Like the Ozark Mountains and the Mississippi Delta, both are beautiful for different reasons. With talent ranging from Al Green to Johnny Cash to Justin Moore, Arkansas’s musicality is as wide ranging and diverse as its people.
