Olif Derek Boren,
Olif Derek Boren,
He was known to most as “Mr. Derek” and was a devoted husband of 53 years to Cleo, who passed away in 2007, and a compassionate partner to Martha until his last breath. He was a father, grandfather, uncle, friend, co-worker, and so much more to all who knew him.
He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, and served until an Honorable Discharge was awarded to him for an exemplary position as Staff Sargeant.
He has been involved in many community services throughout the years. He served as a Justice of the Peace for Calhoun County and a Leadership figure of the local Rehabilitation Program, just to name a few.
When he wasn’t working in construction or at the gravel pit, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, dancing, and building his chicken mansions… Just an all-around Outdoorsman.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister, and his wife Cleo.
He is survived by his wife, Martha; Four daughters and their families: Marla Boren (Arthur Gilbert) of Maryland; Debbie Smith (Michael) of Chidester,
