She resides in Warren and has previous teaching experience with the Hermitage School District. We regretfully announce the passing of Verta Mae “Vert” Buzbee, 87, of Hampton, Arkansas. Vert passed away on January 6, 2023 of natural causes. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, James V. Wooten Sr.

Hampton, AR – The Arkansas School Boards Association (ASBA) announced that January is School Board Member Recognition Month in Arkansas. School board members play an essential role in our community. Hampton School District will join other districts in Arkansas in celebration of our board by thanking them for the time, talents, and knowledge they bring to our district and for their commitment to the families and children of our community.

Following a special called meeting on January 3, the Hampton School Board voted to retain the services of McPherson & Jacobson Executive Recruitment and Development for their search for a new superintendent. The company will works with the community, teachers, students and administration in helping the board to find the best person for the position.

JANUARY 16

Four o’clock Saturday afternoon the Hampton Fire Department, Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department, City of Hampton Police, Blann Tractor, State Police, ProMed Ambulance, County Rescue Unit and Life Flight all worked together to save the driver after running into the back of a tractor trailer hauling farm equipment. The new year brought new faces to the Hampton City Council. The first meeting of 2023 included and Ordinance (2023-1), a Resolution (2023-1), discussion of salary percentage disparages by a city employee and citizens request for reimbursement for tire damage incurred during the heavy rain due to road damage.
