The Judge will be hosting a town hall meeting in the Calhoun County Courthouse. It is an opportunity to ask questions about the tax issues that will be on the ballot, March 5. The taxes will be used primarily for building a roof over the CalCo Arena. There will be a two taxes on the ballot. One tax will be used to pay for the building of the arena roof. One tax will be permanent and will help provide funds for the parks and recreation.
Expanded Junk Hunt To Run Twice A Year
The rescheduled School Board meeting began with Kamil Greenwood leading the Pledge of Allegiance and Kaylee Davis the opening prayer. It was followed by an impressive report of the Hampton Choir highlights by Daniel Williams, director.

JANUARY 19
Friday morning Calhoun County awoke to storms just before dawn. The fierce winds (70-90 mph) took out several 100 year old trees including one on the courthouse square (pictured at right.) An old pecan tree between buildings north of Main Street (center right) no longer will be providing pecans and Mrs. Goolsby slept through the one falling on her house (bottom right.) News media across the state made mention of the damage and the volunteer help in Calhoun County.
The Arkansas School Boards Association (ASBA) announced that January is School Board Member Recognition Month in Arkansas. School board members play an essential role in our community. Hampton School District will join other districts in Arkansas in celebration of our board by thanking them for the time, talents, and knowledge they bring to our district and for their commitment to the families and children of our community.
Merrit Emery, of Caraway, Ark. in Craighead County was announced as the winner of the Havoc Boat Raffel that was sponsored by Havoc Boats and the Calhoun County Office of Emergency Management.
Hampton School District is excited to begin working on a new campus addition. The school was recently named among 75 schools in the state to receive $2,500 to construct and furnish a calming room, aimed at addressing the mental well-being of students.
Jaret Rushing, from the Calhoun County Extension Office will be hosting a Pesticide Applicator Training in the lower level of the administration building on Friday, January 12 at noon. Registrants will be charged $20 for the training.
