Tax Town Hall Meeting Monday on Tax Issues— March 5 Ballot

The Judge will be hosting a town hall meeting in the Calhoun County Courthouse. It is an opportunity to ask questions about the tax issues that will be on the ballot, March 5. The taxes will be used primarily for building a roof over the CalCo Arena. There will be a two taxes on the ballot. One tax will be used to pay for the building of the arena roof. One tax will be permanent and will help provide funds for the parks and recreation.

Friday morning Calhoun County awoke to storms just before dawn. The fierce winds (70-90 mph) took out several 100 year old trees including one on the courthouse square (pictured at right.) An old pecan tree between buildings north of Main Street (center right) no longer will be providing pecans and Mrs. Goolsby slept through the one falling on her house (bottom right.) News media across the state made mention of the damage and the volunteer help in Calhoun County.

Hampton School District is excited to begin working on a new campus addition. The school was recently named among 75 schools in the state to receive $2,500 to construct and furnish a calming room, aimed at addressing the mental well-being of students.
