Jaret Rushing, from the Calhoun County Extension Office will be hosting a Pesticide Applicator Training in the lower level of the administration building on Friday, January 12 at noon. Registrants will be charged $20 for the training.
Hampton School District is excited to begin working on a new campus addition. The school was recently named among 75 schools in the state to receive $2,500 to construct and furnish a calming room, aimed at addressing the mental well-being of students.

After an hour long discussion, the Hampton City Council approved a six percent cost-of-living raise for all city employees.
The Hampton School Board discussed the school calendar changes at their meeting on Tuesday. Hampton School staff and students were surveyed whether they prefer the four-day school week or an alternate calendar.

The Calhoun County courthouse square is decorated for the Christmas season. This year a touch of snow has been added to enhance the atmosphere amongst the gingerbread men, candy canes and lollipops.
H. P. Rowen (Left) served on the USS West Virginia and Dusty Lansdale (Right) served on the USS Maryland. Both battleships survived the Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, and exacted a terrible revenge on the Japanese Navy. Both veterans were gunners on the legendary 16 inch main guns of those historic battleships. They are the two oldest veterans in the county.
