age 51 of Hampton, Arkansas passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at home surrounded by family. He was born in El Dorado, Arkansas on July 24, 1972. He is preceded in death by his father Haydn Martin (Hank) Welsh and his mother Carolyn Nettles Welsh.

This year the school board, rather the Superintendent Matt Scarbrough, has given students the privilege of leading the Pledge of Allegiance and opening prayer at eh meeting. They are chosen from both the high school and elementary school.

It’s hard to put into words the evil that is plaguing the Middle East right now. On Saturday, we woke to learn that Hamas terrorists launched an unprovoked attack on Israel with no regard for the lives of civilian men, women, children, or babies. Many people have never experienced or even imagined the violence and evil inflicted on innocent Israelis by the Hamas terrorists. It is a disgrace to humanity.

Helen Wheaton, age 97 of Hampton died Monday, October 16, 2023 at Silver Oaks Health and Rehab in Camden, Arkansas. She was born October 10, 1926 in Hampton,Arkansas. She was a homemaker and a member of the Assembly of God Church.

Ron L. Oliver 77, passed away peacefully on his birthday, October 11, at his home in North Little Rock. He was born on October 11, 1946, in Hampton, AR to Reginald Lee Oliver and Vivian Avant Oliver of Calhoun County. Ron was passionate about politics and government from an early age and faithfully devoted his life to social justice, community service, and building partnerships. He was an avid Democrat and proud to be one of the original Arkansas Travelers who campaigned for Bill Clinton (and later Hillary Clinton) in New Hampshire and around the United States. He helped countless young people get their start in local, state, and national politics and took great pride in watching their careers and accomplishments grow. He enjoyed great success as a political strategist, and later, as Chair of the Democratic Party of Arkansas from 2001-2005, he oversaw the winning of all open statewide constitutional offices, increased Democratic majorities in the state legislature, and opened statewide field offices. However, he worked across the aisle alongside his many Republican friends at every opportunity to accomplish shared goals. He served as Chief of Staff to former Lt. Governor Bill Halter, Chair of the Arkansas Burial Association Board, and Director of the Arkansas Racing and Gaming Commission. He also served as Chair of many community organizations, including the Urban League of Arkansas, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission, and the William F. Laman Public Library for many years. LITTLE ROCK AIR FORCE BASE, ARK. – Thunder Over the Rock, Little Rock AFB’s first air show since 2018 is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 21 and Sunday, Oct. 22. Admission and parking for the air show are free. The main gate opens at 8:00 a.m. to the general public and closes at 5:00 p.m.
