Carroll Wayne Dunn,
Carroll Wayne Dunn,

88, of Little Rock, Arkansas peacefully passed away on August 30, 2023 in his most beloved spot - his home. Born June 22, 1935, Carroll was the seventh of eight children born to Jerry Truitt and Adrian Reddin Dunn of Hampton, Arkansas. Being a tall and gifted athlete throughout his childhood and teen years in Hampton, Carroll was offered and accepted a basketball scholarship from Coach Glen Rose at the University of Arkansas. During his four years as a Razorback, Carroll was the center and a threeyear letterman. As co-captain in 1958, the Razorback basketball team won the Southwest Conference Championship. Carroll was a contributor to their success by scoring points and snagging rebounds at a rate of about 10 each game. An impressive statistic at the time. Allegedly, he led the conference in “most fouls” which matched his basketball philosophy of “why waste a good foul?” In addition to being a basketball player, Carroll also joined the ROTC unit on campus. Upon graduation, he was commissioned by the United States Army as a Second Lieutenant and joined the Military Police Corps as he thought military policemen had the best-looking uniforms.

Courthouse Kiosk Will Help Court Users in Calhoun County Circuit Court

The Arkansas Access to Justice Foundation is pleased to announce that it has donated one kiosk to the Calhoun County Circuit Court. This kiosk will help court users in Calhoun County more easily navigate the court system. Arkansans can use the kiosk to access court records, print exhibits, find court forms and fact sheets, and apply for legal aid. ’The Calhoun County Clerk’s office is excited to offer one more way to serve the citizens of Calhoun County and hopefully help make the court system process a little easier and less confusing,’ said Calhoun County Circuit Clerk Jeanie Smith. Video explainers and FAQs are also available to make legal concepts easier to understand. The public can access these resources at the Calhoun County Circuit Clerk’s Office or by visiting ARCourtKiosk.org. Jordan Bates-Rogers, Executive Director of the Arkansas Access to Justice Foundation noted the importance of collaboration to this project, ’We are thankful for this partnership with the Calhoun County Circuit Clerk. We look forward to partnering with many more court officials to improve the public’s access to their courts.’ The Calhoun County Circuit Court kiosk is a part of a statewide program called AR Courthouse Kiosks. The program is a partnership between the Arkansas Access to Justice Foundation, the Court Improvement Program, and the Administrative Office of the Courts. As part of this program, 112 kiosks will be installed in the coming months, with kiosks made available to every circuit court and select district courts. The program’s goal is to have at least one kiosk available in every county. ’The Administrative Office of the Courts works to ensure that Arkansas courts deliver on the promise of justice for all. We are honored to continue that effort by improving the accessibility of the courts for all Arkansans,’ said Marty Sullivan, AOC Director. Installing these kiosks has long been a strategic goal of the Court Improvement Program in Arkansas. ’The Court Improvement Program is proud to be a part of this important project that is giving Arkansas families the ability to easily access court information and legal resources,’ said Brooke Steen, AOC Juvenile Justice Division Director. Funding for this project was provided by the Administrative Office of the Courts through a federal grant. The Arkansas Access to Justice Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization dedicated to funding legal aid for low-income Arkansans and improvements to the administration of justice. Summer in Arkansas means long, hot days and starry nights. It is a time for kids staying up late chasing fireflies in their back yards and jumping into whatever puddle of water they can find to beat the heat. It also means ice cream. And in Arkansas, the Yarnell’s Ice Cream Company has been feeding that tradition for eight decades.
