As the Postmaster of Hampton, I am writing to express the unwavering commitment of our postal staff to serving our wonderful community. With Independence Day approaching, a time when we celebrate our nation’s independence and the freedoms we cherish, it is also a fitting moment to reflect on the values that bind us together.

South Arkansas Sun’s very own columnist, Jeri Shire keeps her hot streak alive for the seventh year! Jeri was awarded first place for Best Humorous Column of 2024 by the Arkansas Press Association. Jeri states, ’I’ve won awards every year since Larry took over the paper – except last year when I missed the entry deadline!’

This Fourth of July, I’m going to mess with our family favorite. Well, just a little bit. Instead of baking and preparing strawberry shortcake the traditional way using homemade, baked shortcake biscuits that heat up my kitchen on a hot summer day, I’m taking a shortcut and buying prepared frozen pound cake and creating colorful red, white and blue strawberry mini shortcakes on a stick.
