Once it was deplorable, now it’s weird. That is the current labeling for political conservatives. I’m not sure what is meant or the motive behind the label but I just want to put out there for an alternative, some other options for weirdness.

* On July 22, 1893, Katharine Lee Bates wrote the lyrics to “America the Beautiful” after admiring the view from the top of Pikes Peak in Colorado. The song’s music was composed by Samuel A. Ward, a church organist and choirmaster in Newark, N.J. The two never met in person.

In a quaint town, a man received a beautiful, ornate lamp as a gift. Delighted, he placed it in his living room but then covered it with a cloth, worried it might get dusty or damaged. When a friend visited and saw the covered lamp, he asked, ’Why do you have this lamp if you’re not going to use it?’ The man realized how foolish it was to hide the lamp’s light.
