Wanda Loretta Wisinger Henderson, age 87 of Hampton died Friday, November 3, 2023 at St. John’s Place in Fordyce, Arkansas. She was born May 17, 1936 in Hampton, Arkansas. She was a homemaker and a member of Dickenson Baptist Church in Harrell.

He was born on October 11, 1946, in Hampton, AR to Reginald Lee Oliver and Vivian Avant Oliver of Calhoun County. Ron was passionate about politics and government from an early age and faithfully devoted his life to social justice, community service, and building partnerships. He was an avid Democrat and proud to be one of the original Arkansas Travelers who campaigned for Bill Clinton (and later Hillary Clinton) in New Hampshire and around the United States. He helped countless young people get their start in local, state, and national politics and took great pride in watching their careers and accomplishments grow. He enjoyed great success as a political strategist, and later, as Chair of the Democratic Party of Arkansas from 2001-2005, he oversaw the winning of all open statewide constitutional offices, increased Democratic majorities in the state legislature, and opened statewide field offices. However, he worked across the aisle alongside his many Republican friends at every opportunity to accomplish shared goals. He served as Chief of Staff to former Lt. Governor Bill Halter, Chair of the Arkansas Burial Association Board, and Director of the Arkansas Racing and Gaming Commission. He also served as Chair of many community organizations, including the Urban League of Arkansas, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission, and the William F. Laman Public Library for many years. Born June 22, 1935, Carroll was the seventh of eight children born to Jerry Truitt and Adrian Reddin Dunn of Hampton, Arkansas. Being a tall and gifted athlete throughout his childhood and teen years in Hampton, Carroll was offered and accepted a basketball scholarship from Coach Glen Rose at the University of Arkansas. During his four years as a Razorback, Carroll was the center and a threeyear letterman. As co-captain in 1958, the Razorback basketball team won the Southwest Conference Championship. Carroll was a contributor to their success by scoring points and snagging rebounds at a rate of about 10 each game. An impressive statistic at the time. Allegedly, he led the conference in “most fouls” which matched his basketball philosophy of “why waste a good foul?” In addition to being a basketball player, Carroll also joined the ROTC unit on campus. Upon graduation, he was commissioned by the United States Army as a Second Lieutenant and joined the Military Police Corps as he thought military policemen had the best-looking uniforms.
